Gene Allen Laehn

Gene Allen Laehn, 81, of Mondovi, WI died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Dove Health Care- West in Eau Claire, WI. He was born May 11, 1942 in Buffalo County, WI; son of Clarence and Wanda (Kent) Laehn.

He graduated from Gilmanton High School. On April 24, 1965 he married Eleanor Lindberg. They had two children, Tracy and Jennifer. Eleanor died on January 24, 1990.

In 1992 Gene married Jeannine Crawford. She died on February 5, 1995.

Gene farmed all of his life on the family farm. He also worked at Ashley Furniture for ten years.

Gene was a member of the Gilmanton Community Club, supervisor for the Dover Township Board, and served as president of the Gilmanton School Board for over 10 years.

He enjoyed hunting, watching high school sports, doing Sudoku puzzles, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his by his son, Tracy (Debbie) Laehn of Mondovi; daughter, Jennifer Laehn of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Mitchell Wold (Erika Kohler), Shanna Laehn (Brandon Hernandez), Brady Laehn, Brooklyn & Jocelyn Sheridan; great granddaughters, Avery Laehn and  Collyns Kohler; step-children, Tami (Perry) Myren, Toni Schmidtknecht; step grandchildren, Cole Myren, Alayna Myren, Brittany Schmidtknecht, Jason (Ashley) Schmidtknecht, Joe (Ann) Schmidtknect and several step great-grandchildren; brother, Loren (Helen) Laehn and half-sister, Shirley (Richard) Galster.

He is preceded in death by his wife Eleanor; wife Jeannine; parents, Clarence and Wanda Laehn; brother, Donald; infant twin brother and sister, Lee and Leona; step-son, Greg Schmidtknecht.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Gilmanton Cemetery.
